I was taught that death comes in three’s. For me it was my pet fish Geoffrey, then my aunt Lori, and finally which I’m still in disbelief about the betty white out living Queen Elizabeth. But I will say no one taught me that the “death in three rule” applies to parts of you too. First it was my courage, then my self confidence, and lastly my joy. I did gain three new friends in there absence though. Anxiety, body dysmorphia, and depression. They aren’t the best at being good friends but they are quite comforting at times. The times when I’m sitting in the dark and have no one to talk to, they somehow know to come and give me this tight squeeze that almost takes the life out of me. They come when they’re unwanted too like when I’m out with my friends having a good time they like to remind me they’ll have my back; always. They’re caring like that sometimes. I like playing games with them too. They’re really good at this game called “starving”. We play like this, Body dysmorphia will come and sit with me so long that I wont be able eat, But then my body reminds me that I can’t really do that so I’ll go to the kitchen but just as I do anxiety decides to follow me to the fridge, the cabinet, and the pantry reminding me that If I eat i’ll get bloated and I have school tomorrow so I can’t do that, I’ll look like a balloon so I opt for a water instead. But that’s when depression waltz’s in and tells me how pathetic it is that I’m scared to eat. He can be mean like that sometimes but I believe he has my best interest at heart. He’s just doing what’s right for me. He’s the most comforting. He comes around all the time to make sure i’m never alone, but it’s okay. Because I’d rather have him have my back then no one at all.
